A Brief History of the Cat - Tree House Humane Society

The takes a clean flowing style to the next level. No fluff on this trendy unit. Instead of cutting corners, it just makes them go away in favor of perfect zen-like circular lines. It's constructed of unfinished wood, so you can choose to leave this beautiful cat tree in all its natural glory, or treat it prior to assembly to create your own unique piece of art.

Enjoy the moment little guy. Much like the aforementioned cat tree, it’s all yours.

It has long been assumed that when cats scratch objects with their front paws that they are sharpening their claws. It turns out that this is only a secondary reason. Research on cat behavior suggests that the major reason for this behavior is communication. By roughing up the bark of a tree (or the leg of your favorite chair) the cat is letting other cats or people know where she is and what she is up to. Let’s make sure that our cats have a good scratching post.

The cat tree I saw had a small ladder too. I decided to make one too but...taller! I live with three sweet kitties (and one sweet boyfriend), and there’s nothing I won’t do for them…almost. We recently moved into a beautiful, new two-level town house with lots of space for our kitties to run around in. Finally, a little den where we could tuck away their enormous carpeted cat tree! One would never know we had a trio of fuzzy devils living in our house, save for them making appearances or not putting their cat toys away. I quite enjoy our home’s modern look, sleek lines, chic furnishings—and absence of corny cat scratchers and tacky cat trees.

We are currently in need of donations to help us weather-proof our outdoor shelters for the cats and dogs for the cooler winter months. We are located in deep south Texas where the winters are pretty mild compared to the majority of the U.S., but still we try to make our resident pets as comfortable as possible. We will use any donations we get to patch leaky roofs, replace rotting wood floors, build new dog and cat houses, etc. We are just a few concerned citizens who do what we can to care for otherwise unwanted animals. We pay for the vast majority of the care and feeding of these animals out of our own pockets. We work and are raising a family as well. We try to update the adoptable animals on this site as often as we get a chance, but are always behind on it. We have MANY more adoptable pets that haven't been posted here yet, so contact us. Also, keep that in mind if you are considering donating to help with the enormous costs. Please complete the following application to begin the process of adopting from us. The information provided to us will be treated as confidential and will not be shared with anyone else. This information will help us determine if the animal you are interested in will be a suitable match for you. Many of the animals we have here have been with us for many months to several years, so we pretty much know the individual personalities of all of them. There are no wrong answers, necessarily. We care very much for our animals and want to make sure they are cared for in their new homes. If you are interested in animals which may not be listed yet, just type the word 'Any' in the Name of Cat field and we will be happy to discuss other possible matches according to the information you provide. We do not share your information with any other organization or company for any purpose whatsoever.
