The Cat Mate Pet Fountain is as suitable for small dogs as it is for cats. It is made of plastic and features a polymer-carbon filter for water purification. To suit the needs of all pets, the fountain comes with a three-level design as well as a flowing water stream. The pump is very quiet and shouldn't frighten animals who are disturbed by loud noises.

Moving water reduces bacteria growth and the pre-filter catches things like hair, toys, or whatever else your pet drops in the bowl. It pulls up for easy cleaning in case you have dogs that shed a lot. I started out with the Cat Mate Pet Fountain which holds 70 ounces of water compared to 168 ounces that you get with the PetSafe Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain. The CatMate was a great fountain. It was smaller and quieter but I noticed my cats drinking a lot more so eventually upgraded to the PetSafe Fountain so I wouldn’t have to refill it as much. The cool thing about the Platinum Pet fountain is that I just have to fill up the back container once and that will keep their water full for a little over a week. It’s built really well and it’s extremely hard to tip over, the wide base and well thought out water reservoir will withstand cats or dogs that like to tip things over. It has a leaver that will allow you to adjust the water flow in case it’s making too much noise or if you have a nervous cat that prefers a smaller stream.
Cat Water Fountain Reviews 2017 • Thirsty Pets
Anyhoo, as far as cat fountains. I did notice that the water started to dribble over the edge, from the stream of water that goes into the bowl. So I have propped it up with a cap from a milk bottle... besides tilting the thing so the stream doesn't go over the edge, it made it even more quiet!
Drinkwell Platinum is the absolute best seller of cat water fountains
The first thing I noticed was how quiet it is. Reviewers of other fountains mentioned sounds and how their pets shied away from the noisy stream of water. This cat water fountain is almost silent. I love that! When the water level drops too low, you can hear that there is air in the motor and it makes a low hum. So we make sure to top it off then. The Cat Mate Pet Fountain is one of our top-rated fountains. It’s the quietest pet fountain on the market, it’s easy to clean, and its multiple drinking levels are popular with cats. We just wish it held more water. The Deluxe Fresh Flow Pet Fountain has a 108-ounce capacity, but because the water level needs to stay above the pump, it would probably need to be filled at least twice per week. Notably, owners with multi-cat homes tell us that the fountain needs refilling three or four times per week. According these same people, however, refilling is an easy task – not a troublesome issue. Pet owners who are drawn to the quietness of the Deluxe Fresh Flow Pet Fountain's operation may be willing to overlook the extra maintenance requirements. The Cat Mate Pet Fountain is one of our top-rated fountains.
