Message: The CAT would not be any better with FF than WET MD. You know Dr. Hodgkins developed WET MD I assume. It is good food for a diabetic cat even though the ingredients are questionable. The carb levels are more than low enough. Remember it is dry food that is the problem in the first place, not wet food. The doc has said that she has yet to see a wet food only fed cat with diabetes. They always have dry food in the diet according to the doc.

While I am no fan of MD because it is a HILLS product I am sure Purina is not that much better. Hey they are swiss. Nestle makes the very best Chocolate ------------------- And CAT FOOD!!

I realize this is WDJ but failing a like minded feline magazine why does Hills make and recommend MD metabolic diet, for diabetic cats with a very high carbohydrate canned and dry foods? Mostly corn by products and other carbs when the problem comes from feeding high carb diets? My 18 year old cat was just diagnosed with steroid induced diabetes.
Biggest fear for me has been thinking I would have to feed prescription foods with their corn and carb by products. Thankfully learned that most of her foods that I learned about by reading WDJ, and how to read ingredients, what to avoid what to feed.
Nutrional values and ingredient info is the same for cats as for dogs. Actually she adores rehydrated Stella and Chewy's, another food she can still eat.

Top 59 Complaints and Reviews about Hills Cat Food

1) First and foremost, always choose a canned, pouched, or raw meat diet for your cat. No type, brand or variety of dry food is acceptable for any cat, but especially not for any diabetic cat!! This includes every single food that is labeled as “for diabetics” (such as Hills m/d dry, Purina DM dry and Innova Evo dry). I CANNOT emphasize this point enough. I have had several clients whose diabetic cats have been released from their dependence on insulin who subsequently relapsed because their people believed what they read on a bag of dry cat food. There is simply NO dry cat food, and there likely never will be any dry cat food that will be an appropriate food for diabetic cats! The CAT would not be any better with FF than WET MD.
