Pet Food Ratings | A guide to choosing the right pet food

Taste of the Wild and also Blue Buffalo , because of the ratings and ingredients, peak my interest. My cat ,age 8, was diagnosed with early stages Kidney disease. Vet recommended I go with Hills Science gourmet wet. She’s a dry food eater. Hills doesnt rate too high in your listing. Vet recommends avoiding phosphorous, protein and sodium in her diet. Any comments.
Much appreciate hearing from you.

This Backcountry Game Bird Recipe Dry Food is a protein-rich, grain-free kibble that is infused with pieces of freeze-dried raw meat. This combination makes for a nutrient-rich and flavorful diet that any cat is sure to enjoy. The first five ingredients in this formula are deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, potatoes, and peas. These ingredients work together to provide a crude protein content of 42% and a crude fiber maximum of 4%. Because the main carbohydrates in this recipe are gluten-free and grain-free, this recipe offers excellent digestibility for cats – the inclusion of dried fermentation products as probiotics doesn’t hurt either. For fats, this recipe relies on salmon meal and chicken fat to provide a balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to support your cat’s healthy skin and coat. You will also notice chelated minerals on the list which offer optimal nutrient absorption.

But I don’t think this is a really low end dry cat food. I have to agree with the rating given, maybe a 3.5. There’s some pretty bad dry cat foods out there but I don’t think this is one of them. While present, the filler ingredients are kept sort of to a minimum, there’s no corn based ingredients, and no non-whole grains.
