Measure your cat when laying down, cut a square a plywood and cut four pieces of wood for the walls of the box and cut matching pieces of a pond liner or plastic table cloth. Assemble the wood with nails or duct tape and staple the pieces of pond liner to the bottom and inside walls of the box. Place some gravel in the bottom of the box for drainage, pour soil onto the gravel and cut a piece of sod to fit inside the box or grow grass from seeds. Place several planters of grass or other cat-friendly plants around the box for added decor.

The grass is a lighter shade of green without the summer sun but Tinkerbell (and her new sister) still enjoys the occassional chomp on it.
